Vanilla Ice has re-entered the public consciousness this week with “Ninja Wrapper,” a reworked version of his 1991 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles anthem, now retooled as a promotional single for an AI coding tool that wraps existing APIs “so you don’t have to write the boring parts yourself.”
“The original was about ninjas who happen to be turtles,” Ice explained at a press event, standing in front of a green screen depicting a sewer that had been digitally replaced with a data center. “This one’s about wrapping legacy code in a clean abstraction layer so your team can move fast without breaking prod. Thematically, honestly, not that different.”
The updated track retains the same tempo and swagger, but the lyrics have been quietly overhauled by what the label describes as “a small team of songwriters and one very confident chatbot.” Early reviewers note the chorus now includes references to “shipping,” “scaling,” and, in one widely mocked line, “going full-stack, cowabunga.” Ice has denied that a language model wrote any of it, then, in the same interview, thanked “the model” by name.

The accompanying music video features Ice breakdancing in front of a wall of monitors displaying scrolling green code that industry professionals have identified as “not real code,” “definitely not compiling,” and, in one frame, “the word ‘ninja’ typed 40 times.” A cameo from all four turtles was reportedly cut after negotiations over licensing fees, replaced instead with four unnamed men in green hoodies the production credits list only as “Engineer 1” through “Engineer 4.”
The software product itself, also named Ninja Wrapper, has been described by early users as “fine,” “does what it says,” and “I did not expect the guy from the song to also be the CEO, but here we are.” Ice has confirmed he is, in fact, the CEO, chief marketing officer, and, per his own LinkedIn, “Chief Vibes Officer,” a title he says he “wrapped” himself.
Asked whether there would be a follow-up single for the company’s next product launch, Ice said only, “Word to your mother’s API,” and declined to elaborate further.
